Awareness training
Awareness training turns a simulation into a lesson. A training campaign uses the same delivery, domains and page flow as a phishing campaign, but instead of capturing credentials it presents educational content and records whether each recipient started and completed it.
Training results are kept separate from phishing risk. A recipient who opens a training lesson is never counted as a repeat offender, and training campaigns do not affect the submission or report rates shown for phishing campaigns.
Overview
| Phishing campaign | Training campaign |
|---|---|
| The landing page captures credentials | The landing page presents a lesson |
| Records page visits and data submissions | Records training started and training completed |
| Feeds phishing risk and repeat offender metrics | Excluded from risk and tracked as training compliance |
How it works
A template carries an Awareness training setting. Any campaign built from a template with this setting enabled is a training campaign. The setting is snapshotted onto the campaign when it is created, so editing the template later never changes a campaign that is already running.
The recipient journey follows the normal page flow, with training milestones recorded on top of it:
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| Email link | The recipient opens the link in the training email. |
| Landing page (lesson) | The lesson is shown. The first visit records Training started. |
| After page (summary) | Reaching the after page records Training completed. Link the lesson to
{{.URL}} so the recipient can continue to it. |
Lessons are read only, so no form is required. The after page is what marks a training as completed, which is why it is required on a training template. Each milestone is recorded once per recipient, so revisiting the lesson does not inflate the numbers.
Create a training campaign
1. Build a training template
Create a template as usual and enable Awareness training in the basic information step. A training template needs a landing page for the lesson and an after page for the completion summary.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Awareness training | Marks the template as training. Campaigns built from it record training started and completed instead of phishing page visits and submissions. |
| Landing page | The lesson shown to the recipient. Use a page with your training content. |
| After page | The completion summary. Required for a training template, because reaching it is what records completion. |
2. Create the campaign
Create a campaign from the training template. Delivery, scheduling and recipient groups work exactly as they do for a phishing campaign. A training campaign is marked with a training label in the campaign list and calendar so it is easy to tell apart.
Tracking and reporting
Training progress appears across the same views as phishing results, relabelled for training:
| View | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Campaign details | The result cards read Training started, In progress and Training completed instead of Website visits, Data submitted and Reported. |
| Recipient details | A training line shows how many trainings the recipient was assigned and how many they completed. |
| Dashboard | A Trainings completed card summarises completion across training campaigns. |
| Event timeline | Training started and Training completed appear alongside the delivery events. |
| Dashboard trend | The campaign trend chart has a Phishing and Training toggle; the training view plots started and completion rates over time. |
| PDF report | A training campaign generates a dedicated training report (started, completed and completion rate) using its own template. Edit it with the Training selector in Settings, Report Template. |
